How to use the IT CV template

  • Download the template by clicking on the link above and saving it to a file on your computer.
  • Open the template in Microsoft word
  • The first page is for personal details – fill in everything as accurately as you can. You jsut need ot highlight the explanatory text and type over it.
  • In the education section fill in your high school details, be honest!
  • In the higher education section fill in all the qualifications you received after leaving high schoold. Start with the most recent qualification and finish with the oldest one
  • Fill in the skills matrix. List the technologies you are most proficient in first. List everything you have ever worked on, no matter how long ago it was.
  • Then fill in your current employers details. Make sure you indicate where they are based and what year and month you started there.
  • List all the projects you have worked on while with that company in as much detail as you can. These are like mini jobs and show just what you are capable of handling.
  • Copy the “employer” section that you just filled in and paste it again below, then fill in the details for the company you worked at before your current job in and os on and so forth, as far back as you can remember.
  • List a few references on the next page. Make sure the person you are using as a reference is going to say good things about you and your quality of work.
  • Once you have done all this, save the document with a logical file name like “name_surname_date.doc”

Your basic CV is now ready to be sent out. You can also attach copies of all your qualification certificates and ID if you like, but most people will ask for them if they want them.
